Thursday, December 31, 2021, in the city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, in southwest China. The exhibition will continue until May 8, 2022, during which specialized scientific seminars and cultural activities related to the exhibition will be held.
The Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums contributed 195 important archaeological and artistic artifacts from the nation’s museum collections. The selected pieces were carefully chosen to narrate the story of Syrian civilization from the dawn of history, through the historical periods, and up to the Islamic era, highlighting the uniqueness, diversity, and richness of Syrian cultural heritage.
This exhibition represents a culmination of the exceptional cultural relations between the Syrian and Chinese peoples, also reflected in Syria’s joining of the Asian alliance for the protection of endangered Syrian cultural heritage.
Earlier, the China Art Exhibitions Foundation held an exhibition of archaeological pieces that achieved great success and attracted significant public interest. This prompted the establishment of a new exhibition featuring a larger number of distinguished artifacts for a longer duration.
The current exhibition will tour the most important, largest, and most renowned museums in China over a two-year period.
