Launch of the Interactive Map on the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums Website

In light of the importance of documenting the damage inflicted on Syrian archaeological and historical sites during the war, and following the efforts of the Ministry of Culture – Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums in implementing projects related to documenting and digitizing both immovable and movable archaeological heritage, launched by the Ministry through its key programs aimed at preserving, safeguarding, and promoting urban archaeological heritage and digitizing it, and given the importance of providing the Directorate-General’s website with the latest information about its activities and the current condition of archaeological and historical sites, an interactive map has been added showing the damage and violations that have affected these archaeological sites and historic buildings.

It is noteworthy that the Directorate-General’s website documents the activities of all its departments, presents the latest news from the archaeological sector and related projects, and promotes both domestic and international exhibitions. This contributes positively to the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums’ approach to scientific communication with researchers and specialists in Syrian archaeology, both inside the country and abroad.

In addition, the website plays an active role in raising public awareness about the importance of Syrian archaeological and urban heritage and the necessity of preserving it for future generations.
