Archaeological-sites in Western countryside of Daraa continue to suffer as a result of the crisis in many archaeological sites such as the Mzairib castle about (12 Km) NW of Daraa, (400 m) NE Mzairib lake. Reports to DGAM outlined the minor damages to the castle caused by clashes, digging inside the castle and using the citadel's court and galleries as a stable for animals.
The castle have a square plan with seven towers and a small mosque in the castle's courtyard. It dated back to the 16th century during Sultan Salim I . As mentioned in the historical resources al Mzairib was gathering point of the pilgrimage going from Syria to The holy lands, and was under the protection of the Ottoman Empire.
